Enhancing Your Consignment Experience: Upcoming Changes at Stuff Etc

We want to begin this heartfelt message by extending our sincerest apologies for the lengthy lines and wait times you’ve endured at our receiving counters. We truly understand the frustration and inconvenience this has caused you, and for that, we are deeply sorry. Your trust in us means the world, and we acknowledge that we have not been living up to your expectations recently.

In response to this, we are committed to immediate changes in our consignment policies, driven by our unwavering dedication to serving you better. We find ourselves unable to handle the daily influx of black bag consignment drop-offs efficiently at our locations, and this has resulted in an inadequate service to you, our valued consignors.

October 1st to October 16th

We will temporarily suspend the acceptance of black bag drop-offs, as this area has posed safety concerns for our employees and delays in processing your items.

October 1st

We are making yet another important change to our consignment drop offs. From Tuesday through Saturday, all Stuff Etc locations will cease accepting consignment drop-offs one hour before closing time.

  • Iowa City will accept consignment drop offs Tuesday through Friday until 6 pm, Saturday until 4 pm
  • Coralville, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Ankeny, Clive, and Dubuque will accept consignment drop offs Tuesday through Saturday until 6 pm
  • Davenport will accept consignment drop offs Tuesday through Saturday until 5 pm.

This adjustment will ensure that we can provide you with the level of customer service you deserve during our operational hours.

Pre-sorters will be introduced

While our pre-sorters are dedicated to providing the best service possible, it’s essential to note that they may occasionally miss something on your items. Our pricers will have the final say in accepting items for the sales floor, ensuring that your consigned items meet our standards. This streamlined approach will enable quicker processing of totes and allow us to accommodate more consignors during our drop-off hours. It will also give you the flexibility to decide how you’d like to handle unsellable items, whether it’s taking them back with you or choosing an alternative option.

No consignment drop-off dates

Lastly, we will be adding some “no consignment drop-off” dates to our calendar. This step is essential to ensure that we can process your items and get them to our sales floors in a more timely manner, ultimately resulting in quicker sales for your consigned items.

Stuff Etc will not be accepting consignment drop offs on these dates:

  • November 11, 2023
  • November 21 & 22, 2023
  • January 1- 15 (change of seasons)
    • January 16 we will begin accepting spring items
  • July 1 – 15 (change of seasons)
    • July 16 we will begin accepting fall items

Furniture will still be accepted on these no-consignment drop off dates.

We want to express our profound gratitude for your continued trust and support. These changes are driven by our commitment to improving your consignment experience with us. We understand that change can be challenging, but we firmly believe that these adjustments will lead to a more efficient, convenient, and rewarding consignment process for all. Your satisfaction is our utmost priority, and we are dedicated to living up to your expectations.

Thank you for being a part of the Stuff Etc community. We look forward to continuing this journey with you as we strive to provide you with the outstanding service you deserve.
